On August 16, 2023, New York Transco announced the energization of the New York Energy Solution (NYES) six months ahead of schedule. NYES modernizes the transmission system network, boost reliability and resiliency and enables a greater flow of clean energy to New York homes and businesses. Click HERE to access the press release.
The milestone was celebrated with a ribbon cutting featuring Victor Mullin, NY Transco President; NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen Harris, representing Governor Hochul; NY State Public Service Commissioner Diane Burman; NYSIO Executive Vice President Emilie Nelson; Henry Westbrook, President and Assistant Business Manager of IBEW Local 1249; and Tom O’Connor, Vice President at the Capital Region Chamber.
New York Transco was also joined by NY Public Service Commissioner David Valesky; the New York Power Authority President and CEO Justin Driscoll; and representatives from leaders and organizations around the state, including Congresswoman Stefanik, State Senator Ashby, Assemblyman Bendett, the Business Council of New York, and Columbia County Economic Development Corporation, among others.
